Stanley J. Glod, born in Altoona, PA, holds a B.A. from John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio, and a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. Between 1962 and 1969, he served on active duty as Judge Advocate Officer in the U.S. Army in France and Germany. He returned to teach international and comparative law at the Army Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, VA, and later held a variety of assignments in the Department of Defense, rising to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
While in private law practice in Washington, DC, from 1970-1988, Mr. Glod specialized in international trade and consular and treaty law and represented several embassies and foreign governments. Author of numerous professional articles, he is fluent in Polish, Czech, German and Ukrainian. In 1988 Mr. Glod was appointed by President Reagan as Chairman of the U.S. Foreign Claims Settlement Commission.
Presently, Mr. Glod conducts a private law practice and consultancy with offices in Washington, DC, and Poland. He travels extensively throughout Central and Eastern Europe and is deeply involved in economic development and investment in that region. In June, 1995, Mr. Glod was elected as National Vice President for Financial Development of the Polish American Congress. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Alexandria, VA
