by Marta Szumanski-Smokowicz

George Milton, born Jerzy Wygrzywalski, in Nowy Sacz, Poland, came to the United States in the mid 1960's and has resided in Hollywood ever since. George Milton was a teacher of Physics in Poland. He is now a businessman and owner of Quality Light Metric, a Hollywood based company, which specializes in the calibration of light measurement instrumentation. The company is principally involved in the motion picture and aerospace industries. In 1968, in conjunction with the Space Program "Apollo 11 - Man on the Moon", the historic event of Neil Armstrong's landing on the moon, all subsequent NASA light measure instruments were calibrated by Quality Light Metric Co.

George Milton's Quality Light Metric calibrates virtually all lightmeters in the motion picture industry. Cinematographers all over the world: Australia, Argentina, South Africa and all of the United States from Alaska to Florida have used Quality Light Metric Services. The company has virtually no competition in this field. George Milton is personally involved in quality control and personally inspects the final product on the calibrated instruments.

Studios such as Warner Brothers, Disney, 20th Century Fox, MGM and Paramount depend on his firm. Its success is based on the requirement by studios for quick response. Quality Light Metric can provide service within a 24 hour period. Services have been provided in the production of many Oscar winning films such as Jaws (which required underwater filming) up to recent films, Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven and Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List.

George Milton is a member of such prestigious organizations as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, American Cinematographers Association and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

In 1993, George Milton celebrated the 25th anniversary of Quality Light Metric Co.
