Richard Norek, M.S., M.E.
Gas Turbine consultant, former gas turbine designer, field researcher, and research assistant at the Fluid-Flow Machinery Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, Gdansk, Poland, and former lecturer (Copenhagen Technical University, Denmark). Education: MSME from RPI, Troy, NY; Magister of Mechanics from Politechnika Gdanska; attended Warsaw Univ. Math. Dept; Broad experience: Academia 6 years; Industry work: GE Gas Turbine Dept. 12.5 years on design and development of 14 turbine models. Subsequently, Mr. Norek provided consulting services on gas turbines and steam turbines for Aramco/Saudi Aramco, the largest crude oil producer in the world, for 18 years. Responsible for the company fleet of steam turbines and 214 gas turbines, both aero derivatives and heavy industrials from conception to obsolescence.
Presented technical papers on gas turbine hot gas path components, rotor dynamics, fuel contaminants, correction of field problems, and failure investigations at the international meetings of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers - International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI), GTUA, EPRI, ISCORMA, and ASME/Electric Power 05. Life Member of the ASME. Member of the ASME IGTI Oil and Gas Application Committee. Former co-organizer and a VP of the IGTI Chapter in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Since 1998, President of a consulting firm in Eliot, Maine. Received four US Patents and has one pending.
