Czestochowa Archdiocese - Bogdanow, [Church of the] Most Holy Trinity

Cemetery: 1 kilometer

Historical Sketch:

The parish has been in existence since 1394. It is possible that it is even older. In 1597 a separate parish was created on its territory in Postekalice, when the Church in Bogdanow was taken over by the Arian [religious sect] owners of the village. The Postekalice parish continued to exist even after the Bogdanow church went back into Catholic hands in 1616 when it was incorporated into Bogdanow. In 1649 it became a subordinate church. In 1936 a new parish was portioned out of Bogdanow [parish] to become the Postekalice parish; in 1946 another was created in Wola Krzysztoporska.

The original church was probably built of larch wood, the next was of masonry construction. In 1836 a side chapel devoted to the Suffering Mother of God was added. In 1912 the church was taken down and in its place a new tri-nave masonry church was constructed during the years 1914-1922. First the project was under the supervision of Fr. Mieczyslaw Kozakowski, then, starting in 1920, under Fr. Ludwik Muszynski. During the years 1919-1920 work stopped because of the pastor's illness. He church was blest on January 25, 1922 by the dean of Gorz____ Fr. Boleslaw Korwin Szymanowski. In 1951 the interior of the church was painted, in 195__ the roof and tower were renovated. The church was prepared for consecration by Fr. Stanislaw Kowa___ and the ceremonies were carried out by Bishop Zdzislaw Golinski on May 11, 1958. Thanks to the efforts by Fr. Ewar__ Galazki further renovations of the church were completed, the roof was covered with sheet metal, the rectory was refurbished (after 1966).

On the grounds of the Postekalice parish is located the subordinate church. The first church building, of wood was put up by the local [landowner] dziedzic Krzysztof Postekalski in 1597. This church burned down in 1737. That same year a new one was built, also wooden, thanks to the efforts of the dziedzic of Postekalice then living.

Another chapel is on the cemetery in Bogdanow. Built in 1871 by local dziedzic Leoplold Golebiowski. Thanks to the efforts of Fr. Stefan Bilewicz the roof of the church in Postekalice was re-covered and the vicar's residence was renovated; the cemetery was fenced. A chapel was built in Wozniki. Painting began on the interior of the church in Bogdanow. The work was finished by Fr. Wojciech Gonera in 1999. During the years 1999-2000 shingles were replaced on the roof of the Postekalice church.
