Ostrowska, Mary
Sociologist. Director of Social Service Bureau in New York City. Born in Wilno, Poland. Educated in Sorbonne, Paris. Active in numerous organizations in Poland during the World War I. For her activities in defense of Wilno was awarded by the late Marshal Joseph Pilsudski with a citation "For Defense of Wilno." Was very active in YMCA in Poland and later was associated with that organization in America. Member and active worker of Polish Red Cross. Member of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Founder and director of Polish Social Service Bureau in New York City. For her numerous activities and contributions to the cause of Poland she was decorated by the Polish Government with a Service Cross.
