Osuch, Mary
Social worker. Born July 15, 1864 in Poland. Came to U.S. in 1874 and settled in Chicago, Ill.; daughter of Jan and Julia Kowalski. Married Michael Osuch, who was president of Polish National Alliance in Chicago. Active in church societies. Organized chapter 36 P.R.C.U. in Chicago and was its president for 42 years. Organized another women's society in 1901, Group 29 or P.N.A. in Chicago. In 1908, elected vice-president of P.R.C.U. and thereafter reelected twice to that position. Since 1931 a honorary vice president of said organization. Decorated with Cross of Merit, diamond ring, medals three times, and honorary diplomas, by P.R.C.U. and by St. Joseph's Old Age Home. Former vice-president of that institution. Very active in Polish War Relief work during World War I and now again active in the same field.
