FOR ACCOMMODATION
Hope is a small ship
under which the sea billows and seethes.
Recollection is a flimsy ship
that comes back to us in spite of grief. When I write, you draw in me
indistinct signs I cannot read.
Sometimes the sea soughs dismally
as if calling some misery to mind.
I might watch but not perceive that nearby,
a leaf with a leaf and a flower with a flower
abandon themselves to wild rapture.Today wildfowl nourished on hope
fly low, asking for accommodation.
Over a buoy of sadness slowly receding,
your face blows out a candle and lights the sun.Source: Post Eagle, 2002.
