Allen, Andrew Hussey

Son of Julian and Mary Abby (Hussey) A.; A. B., Harvard, 1878; admitted to bar, 1889, but never practiced; unmarried. Disbursing agent court of commrs. of Alabama Claims, 1882-85; member U.S. Board on Geographic Names, Sept. 4, 1890-1905 (was sec. chmn. bd.); chief Bur. of Rolls and Library, Dept. of State, 1892-1905. Inaugurated Sept. 1893, and edited, to its conclusion. 1905, Bulletin of Rolls and Library, as a medium for pub. of catalogues, indices and important papers of the National Archives.
