Robert A. Ancharski (1923 - 2003)
ManagerRobert A. Ancharski, 80, formerly of 136 S. Poplar St., Hazleton, died Thursday at the home of his son, Michael, and his wife, Janie, Schwenksville.
Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Frances (Shambelen) Ancharski. A 1941 graduate of Hazleton High School, he resided in the Hazleton area his entire life.
Prior to his retirement, he was the shipping manager at Barrett-Haentjens. He was an active member of St. Gabriel's Church, where he served as Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Mary North; sons, James and his wife, Theresa, Westfield, N.J., John and his wife, Patricia, Sinking Springs, Joseph and his wife, Cindy, Pringle, Michael and his wife, Jane, Schwenksville; daughters Nancy Ancharski, Keen, N.H., and Molly and her husband, Willard Miller, Wilkes-Barre, Marie and her husband, Paul Schmidt, Lansdale.
Also surviving are grandchildren Karen and Elizabeth Ancharski, Molly and Katie Pindell, Mark, Nancy and Marie Ancharski, Nicole Reilley, Nina and Lindsay Ancharski, Kristin, Susan and Kathryn Ancharski, Joseph and Colleen Miller, and Eric, Michael, Rebeca and Melisa Schmidt. Great-grandchild Julian Ancharski also survives.
He is also survived by brothers Philip, Charlie, Jackie, Buddy, and Richie Ancharski; sisters Leona Shergalis, Violet Oswald, Joanie Ancharski, Peggy Brislin, Louise Stefankiewiz, and Dolly Oscovitch. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Turnbach Funeral Home, Inc., 423 W. Broad St., Hazleton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, Hazleton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home between 6 and 9 p.m. Sunday and between 8 and 9 a.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Gabriel's Church, 122 S. Wyoming St., Hazleton, Pa. 18201.
