LaPorte, IN - Henry J. "Hank" Andrewski, 82, of LaPorte, IN, died suddenly on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at LaPorte Hospital. He was born in 1923, in LaPorte, the son of Felix and Mary (Mish) Andrzejewski. He lived in LaPorte all his life. On August 19, 1950, in LaPorte, he married Agnes Witek and the couple enjoyed 55 years together.

Mr. Andrewski had retired from Whirlpool Corp. after 37 years as a machinist and had also worked at Briar Leaf Golf Curse for 12 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; LaPorte VFW Post 1130; LaPorte American Legion Post 83; Polish National Alliance; Polish Roman Catholic Union of America Sacred Heart Society #1031 for which he served as president for 38 years; Briar Leaf Golf Course Men's Club; and Legacy Hills Golf Course Senior League. He bowled for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes and two daughters, Chris (Mike) Harenza of LaPorte and Lori (Rick) Lambert of Rolling Prairie; one son, Dave (Debbie) of Zionsville, IN; and six grandchildren, Bret Harenza, Meghan and Eric Andrewski, and Cory, Drew and Kali Lambert. Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandson, Matt Harenza; and one brother, Hip Andrzejewski.

The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Burial was held in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, with a graveside military service conducted by the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard.

May Mr. Andrewski be long remembered for his service and contributions to the Polish American community and may he rest in eternal peace.
