Former PRCUA Director Sophia C. (Sowinski) Andruszkiewicz Passed Away

Salem, MA - Sophia C. (Sowinski) Andruszkiewicz, 85, wife of the late Walter Andruszkiewicz Sr., died on April 23, 2004, after a long illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ladislaus and Aniela (Szostek) Sowinski. She was a graduate of Salem High School and a lifelong resident of Salem.

Prior to her retirement in 1960, she was employed for 15 years by the General Electric Co. An active member of the Polish American community, she was a parishioner of the St. John the Baptist Church, where she was a member of the St. Ann Society. She was Director of District #1 of the PRCUA from 1962-66 and 1970-78 and treasurer of the St. Joseph Society #604.

Sophie attended many conventions and was on the PRCUA 1OOth anniversary committee. She was a member of the Women's Polish American Citizens Club of Salem and the Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs.

Mrs. Andruszkiewicz is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Andruszkiewicz of Danvers, MA, two grandchildren, Vicki Lyn Andruszkiewicz and Tina Lyn Andruszkiewicz, both of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Walter J. Andruszkiewicz Jr., and sister of the late William Sowinski, Alexander Sowinski, Henrietta Twarog and Mary Michalowski. A Funeral Mass took place at St. John the Baptist Church in Salem, MA. May she rest in eternal peace.
