Joseph Atlack Passed Away

Travis, Staten Island, NY - Joseph Atlack, 84, a 35-year member of PRCUA St. Anthony Society #353 passed away on January 11, 2009 after a prolonged illness. He was a lifelong resident of Travis, NY and a retired Sanitation Dept. employee who worked at the Fresh Kills Landfill for 28 years.

Mr. Atlack, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was a member of the Gold Star Post of the American Legion. He was also an honorary volunteer with the Oceanic Hook and Ladder Company No. 1.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed working in the garden and taking day trips by car. He was a parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Travis, Staten Island, NY.

In addition to his wife, Michaline, he is survived by two sons, Robert and Joseph, a daughter Janice Dodge, two brothers, Edward and Stanley, and four grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 14 at St. Anthony of Padua Church with burial at St. Peter's Cemetery in West Brighton, Staten Island, New York.
