Klosick, Victor F.
(1924 - August 19, 2007)

In a city rife with onamastic fireworks, Hazleton, Pennsylvania, surrounded at one time by hard coal mines, attracted many persons from Poland who changed the diminutive suffix -ek in their last name. Hence one finds many family names in the United States that have no match in Poland. One of them is Klosick.

Born in Hazleton in 1924 and raised in St. Stanislaus parish, Victor F. Klosick was one of eight children of George and Eva (Kurtz) Klosick. He had no children with his wife, Mary Kiraly, who died June 18, 2003. Another brother, Stanley, preceded him in death in Hazleton. Two others, Henry, who died in Ohio, and Chester, in Oregon, had more children. Hence the Klosick name is kept alive and the graves of the four brothers are each decorated with an American flag on Memorial Day to indicate that they served their country in time of war.
