West Point Academy Salute To Kosciuszko, Sunday, October 15, 1967

The sesquicentennial of Thaddeus Kosciuszko's death will be observed by Kosciuszko Lodge, F & AM No.1085 of Bronx, N.Y., at foot of the Kosciuszko column originally erected in 1828 by the Corps of Cadets of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

The bronze statue capping the column was placed in 1913 by the Polish American Community led by the late Msgr. Joseph C. Dworczak of Yonkers, N.Y. Directly below the Kosciuszko Monument is an historic rocky ledge known as "Kosciuszko Garden."

In these scenic surroundings overlooking the Hudson River on Sunday, October 15th commencing at 12:30 p.m., Kosciuszko Lodge will hold its 'Sesquicentennial Tribute' with the official participation of the United States Military Academy.

Wreaths will be laid by the Lodge and the Polish American Veterans of Massachusetts, after which the eulogy will be delivered by Major General Charles G. Stevenson, Retired, Honorary Chairman of the American Polish Civil War Centennial Committee.

"Kosciuszko Garden"

After the ceremonies at the foot of the Kosciuszko Monument, the assemblage will go down to 'Kosciuszko's Garden' to join in a tribute to this "only living memento of Kosciuszko."

This tribute is being initiated by the Polish American Veterans of Massachusetts who are commencing the "Kosciuszko Sesquicentennial Year" with their program of underwriting the rehabilitation of Kosciuszko's Garden, on a permanent basis.
