William S. Banowsky (1936 - )
President of UniversityBanowsky new prexy of Oklahoma University
Oklahoma City - Dr. William S. Banowsky has been installed as the tenth president of the University of Oklahoma on Nov. 18.
Dr. Banowsky's great-great-grandfather, Frederyk Banowsky, emigrated from Poland to Texas in 1845. Born in Texas in 1936, Dr. Banowsky earned a Ph.D. degree in speech from the University of Southern California. Prior to coming to the University of Oklahoma, he was president of Pepperdine University, Malibu, California.
The University of Oklahoma has over 20,000 students on its Norman campus and about 4,000 students at the Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.
